INSPIRATION

Based in the beautiful mountains of Nelson BC, we live within valleys and forests of Douglas Fir, cedar and many other wood species. By living in this area we have formed a relationship with the wood, waking up in the forests every morning and working with it all day. For us it is not just about the product we sell, but more about the lifestyle we create, for both us the craftsmen, and you the client living within the natural beauty of our timber framing. Our purpose is to work with the wood responsibly and create beautiful timber frame homes and structural components for you and the generations to come.

STYLE

We offer hand crafted timber frame houses, structures and components and take pride in our timeless technique of superior craftsmanship. Our building style has been inspired by the arts and craft movement with influences also from some of the great building systems of Japan. The luxury of a European chalet, the simplicity of an American bungalow, the strength of Canadian timber and the beauty of Asian flare. Low slung roof lines, with cantilevering rafters held by big timber brackets and bright clear spans of hand crafted timber, have many calling our style simply that of a true West Coast home.

COMPONENTS

We have a detailed product line that is vast and full of individual components for all aspects of a home, both inside and out. Brackets, skirt roofs, entryways, roof systems, porches, balconies, living rooms, feature rooms, bay windows, carports, greenhouses, sun rooms, saunas, right through to interior mantels. By joining a few timber frame components to any conventional frame you will create a "timber frame hybrid" which offers timber framing where it's appreciated most.

RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL

We cover all aspects of residential timber framing with full frame and enclosure packages for houses, lodges, bungalows, and chalets. From downtown urban settings to remote waterfront havens, our frames can be raised anywhere.

Our timber frame structures also have an enormous role in the commercial building industry. Some examples include store fronts, ski lodges, golf lodges, condominium developments, hotels, resorts and retreat centers where the natural aura and exposed inspiration of timber is a must.

THE WOOD

The wood we work with is primarily BC Douglas Fir, sought after for its excellent engineered strength and exceptional beauty. We also offer Western Red Cedar, famous for its excellent resistance to the weather. We offer our products in many other wood species to meet your particular needs. We always have FSC eco certified wood and always encourage its use. We also stock recycled timber from old buildings and harvest dead standing trees when available. Our wood is dried either by kiln, or a minimum of 2 year natural air process, resulting in a very stable finished product.
